Generally, a manufacturer who wishes to affix the Standards Mark to his products, does so voluntarily. There are, however, a number of products, especially those that affect public health and safety, for which the standards governing them are mandatory (see below). In such instances, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor may publish a decree prohibiting their manufacture unless they bear a mandatory standards mark.
Following is the list of products that are subject to mandatory standards marks and their respective standard numbers.
